The River
At 180 miles, the Severn is Britain’s longest river. It raises 2,500ft up in the spectacular surroundings of the Cambrian Mountains, quickly gathers pace and sets off on an amazing journey to the Atlantic. A journey through dramatic gorges, rolling meadows and ancient forests – in fact some of the most sensational scenery this country can offer. But that’s not all. Since the very dawn of time the Severn has played a major role in shaping the landscape and the history of this nation.
